SOLAR FOR COMPANIES: BUILDINGS NOW MUST USE SOLAR OR OTHER RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES

The increasing interest in solar energy is not limited to private households or homeowners, but also to large companies and industrial companies that want to minimize their energy and operating costs.

Even during the peak of the pandemic last year in 2020, Solaric's sales, engineering and installation team worked continuously to provide the best possible service to our residential and business customers. We have never stopped turning on the sun for many businesses and industries such as hospitals, schools, factories and manufacturing facilities. These companies made the smart investment of moving to a cleaner, more sustainable source of energy.

DOE Department Circular 2020-12-0026

New and existing buildings are now required to use solar photovoltaic (PV) and other renewable energy (RE) technologies after the Department of Energy (DOE) issued a guideline to adopt guidelines for energy efficient buildings. The aim of this initiative is to promote the energy-saving design of buildings and their services and to increase the demand for energy-efficient materials and technologies. It stipulates that covered buildings must initially cover at least 1 percent of their forecast annual energy requirements. Building owners can partially or completely cover their energy needs from the renewable energy supply system. In addition to covering their own energy needs, they are also allowed to sell the surplus RE to the local electricity supplier. These guidelines are integrated into the Philippine Green Building Code.

Long term investment

Depending on the size of the solar system in a company, solar can pay for itself in about five years, hence a good return on investment. The company benefits from the system from the 6th to the 25th year (25 years being the lifespan of a solar power system). A typical 100 kWp solar power system can have a projected conservative ROI of 5.6 years, which is the equivalent of 2,417 seedlings grown in 10 years, or 9.7 tons of coal burned.

With the world now leaning towards sustainable and green businesses, solar is definitely a great way to generate positive responses from consumers and take a definitive and responsible stance on climate change.

Every effort counts

Climate experts declare 2030 as our deadline to stop the rapid and continuous global warming of planet earth. Failure to meet this deadline will lead to irreversible effects of climate change, including stronger typhoons, massive floods, prolonged droughts and uncontrollable forest fires. Small steps by these small to large companies and companies will pave the way to a clean, green and sustainable future in the long term.
