Contec Inc., a global manufacturer of contamination control products for cleaning in manufacturing environments, has partnered with Pisgah Energy and Southern Current to design, develop and install a roof and ground solar project at its headquarters in Spartanburg, SC. The two systems with a total of 625.5 kW direct current are used by Contec to generate electricity on site and are expanding their efforts to produce their goods with renewable energy.
In the Contec headquarters there are now a total of 1668 solar modules that supply the system with electricity. This net metering system will produce an estimated 944,600 kWh and offset Contec's electricity consumption by 53%.
"We are very excited about the completion of this installation," says Jack McBride, CEO of Contec. "We take our responsibilities to our community and our planet seriously, and it is an integral part of our wider, ongoing corporate social responsibility effort."
Pisgah Energy was the lead developer and worked in partnership with Southern Current of Charleston, SC to provide construction services for the project. Southern Current, a solar developer and EPC, installed the project using REC 370 solar panels on both floor and roof systems.
