Dominion Energy Virginia is seeking suggestions from developers for new solar, onshore wind, and energy storage projects. The company publishes annual calls for proposals (RFPs) to support the goals of the Virginia Clean Economy Act (VCEA) and help the company meet its goal of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
Dominion Energy claims to have made significant progress in meeting the VCEA's goals. The company is developing the largest offshore wind project in the United States off the coast of Virginia and has more than 5,200 MW of solar under development or operation in the state.
"Every day we continue to make strides toward a clean energy economy in Virginia," said Ed Baine, president of Dominion Energy Virginia. "The proposals we are looking for are another important step forward. They will bring our customers more clean energy, our communities more small projects and our economy more jobs for clean energy."
This year's RFP contains additional guidelines for cooperation with local governments and stricter requirements for environmental justice. Project developers must provide a solid environmental equity impact assessment of each project and, where appropriate, demonstrate meaningful engagement with the communities in which projects are located.
The details of each RFP are as follows:
