Trina Solar's State Key Laboratory of PV Science and Technology (SKL PVST) announced that its proprietary large-area 210mm × 210mm high-efficiency PERC solar cell has achieved 23.56% efficiency in mass production. This sets a new record for 210 P-type monocrystalline silicon PERC cells. The record is confirmed independently by the independent National Center of Supervision and Inspection on Solar Photovoltaic Product Quality (CPVT).
The advanced 210 PERC cells have been manufactured on the mass production lines by the research and development group with fine equipment and process optimization using industrially applicable manufacturing equipment and materials.
"We are proud to announce the latest achievements of our technical team to achieve a batch efficiency of over 23.5% for large-area 210 mm high-efficiency PERC cells in production," says Dr. Yifeng Chen, Head of the High Efficiency Cell and Module Department Research and Development Center in Trina Solar. “This has shown that 210 cells can in reality achieve a very high level of efficiency. Our technical team will continue to focus on the transfer of innovative technologies into manufacturing in order to consolidate our technology leadership in the mass production of highly efficient cells. "
At the end of June 2021, the SKL announced that its highly efficient monocrystalline silicon module of the Vertex type had achieved a record aperture module efficiency of 23.03%, based on 66 pieces of 210 mm x 210 mm high-efficiency PERC cells, which will be independent of TÜV Rheinland and TÜV North confirmed with identical efficiency result.
